| 1833-1897Johannes Brahms' study of musical tradition was of crucial importance to his output: he combined church modes, canonic technique, Baroque style and diction, Bach's counterpoint and Beethoven's thematic-motivic work with the harmonic and expressive achievements of Romanticism to form his own distinctive style. In this respect his choral songs and vocal quartets (e.g. the “Liebeslieder Waltzes” and “New Liebeslieder Waltzes”), often to folk song texts, in which a musical microcosm unfolds, are examplary. | 1913-2012Karl Michael Komma, geb. 24.12.1913 in Asch (Böhmen), gest. 2012 in Memmingen. Schüler u.a. von W. Fortner (Komposition), F. Langer (Klavier), G. Szell (Dirigieren) und G. Becking (Musikwiss.). 1940 Leiter der Musikschule Reichenberg. 1954 Lehrbeauftragter für Musikgeschichte an der Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik in Stuttgart, ab 1960 Professor für Komposition, Musiktheorie und Musikgeschichte. Nach seiner Emeritierung 1978 noch bis 1988 als Lehrbeauftragter für Kirchenmusikgeschichte, mit einer regen Tätigkeit als Komponist, Organist, Kammermusik- und Liedbegleiter und Vortragender. In Reutlingen hat er sich um die „Württembergische Philharmonie“ und die Musikschule sehr verdient gemacht. Gründung der „Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde“ und der Reihe „Musica nova“, die er auch über zwei Jahrzehnte hinweg leitete. Plus d'information sur la personne
