Classical – Expression of value for something noble in art and science, but also as a designation for an era –in descriptions of music history since the 19th century the term is used to designate the “Viennese Classical” period, that is, the works of Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven. The present postcard series, in high quality four-color prints presents portraits and autographs of these composers (including Michael Haydn as well as his brother Joseph). In addition – as an indication of the role German and Italian music which came to fruition in France and which is considered part of the classical period – the composers Gluck and Cherubini have also been included in this series of postcards.
