Kalliwodas Messe ist ein Beispiel für die höfische Musikpflege im 19. Jahrhundert, die immer stärker zu den Randerscheinungen des kulturellen Lebens wurde. In der Messe verzichtet Kalliwoda nahezu auf polyphone Stimmführung – lediglich das "Et vitam venturi saeculi" wird in zwei jeweils paarweise verstärktn Stimmen kanonisch eingeführt – und widmet sich stattdessen verstärkt der harmonischen Ausarbeitung.
