The Missa Pacis for choir and jazz band, subtitled "Zum Frieden raten" (Advising peace), was composed in 2015 for the German Protestant Church Congress in Stuttgart by Tilman Jäger, and premiered there to great acclaim. It integrates various stylistic elements from different cultural realms. The composition combines the romantic and expressionist harmonies of European music with African and South American rhythms. Meditative sections of Asian music are superseded by funky North American gospel grooves. Instead of incompatible opposites, all the stylistic elements are combined "peacefully" here and form a harmonic whole.
The CD was recorded with the Böblinger Vokalensemble (Böblingen vocal ensemble) under the direction of the Württemberg regional church music director Matthias Hanke in the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. The choir was accompanied by Tilman Jäger on piano.
