The chorissimo! Christmas choral collection contains varied and fresh repertoire for all kinds of singing occasions during Advent, Christmas, and wintertime. Its hallmark is its great stylistic variety, ranging from Christmas classics in modern arrangements, via spirituals, canons, and quodlibets, to folk melodies from Europe and South America (mainly with German, English, and French texts). The 29 arrangements by leading composers and arrangers, experienced in the youth choir field, are extremely satisfying through their practicality, great singability, exciting rhythms, and changing tonal colors.
Scored for two to three upper voices (soprano, alto) and one male voice (often ad lib) and piano, the choral collection is tailor-made for young people and follows on from the well-established chorissimo! orange volume. Here too, the male voice part is specially arranged for young voices, and is clearly supported by the keyboard.
The choral director’s volume contains a selection of arrangements to get to know on CD, sung by members of the renowned Calmus Ensemble Leipzig. For rehearsing and independent practice, a piano playback and practice aids are available; a choral score and a separate piano part are available. 19 of the 29 arrangements also work without male voices.

Klaus Konrad Weigele
Prof. Dr. Klaus K. Weigele ist seit 2002 Direktor der Landesakademie für die musizierende Jugend in Baden-Württemberg, ehrenamtlich engagiert er sich seit vielen Jahren im Präsidium des Landesmusikrats. Darüber hinaus ist er seit vielen Jahren als Chorleiter und Stimmbildner an der Landesakademie, bei Workshops, Werkwochen und Fortbildungen für Lehrkräfte tätig. Für seine Arbeit wurde er 2014 mit dem Gräfin-Sonja-Gedächtnispreis der Stiftung Singen mit Kindern ausgezeichnet. Mit seinem Kinderchor SingsalaSing hat er schon mehrere CDs aufgenommen. Er ist Autor und Herausgeber zahlreicher Lieder- und Chorbücher – u.a. der Schulchorbuch-Reihe chorissimo! im Carus-Verlag, ebenso von Artikeln und Schriften zum Thema Musik, Musikvermittlung und Musikpädagogik. | 1953Klaus Brecht worked for almost thirty years as a lecturer, music teacher, choir director and voice coach at the Landesakademie für die musizierende Jugend Baden-Württemberg (Baden-Württemberg State Academy for Young Musicians), where he remains involved in various music education projects. He is the editor of several songbooks and textbooks, holds a teaching position at the Mannheim University of Music and is active as a lecturer, choirmaster and adjudicator for various music associations, including the BMCO (Federal Association Choir & Orchestra) and the BMU (Federal Association for Music Education).
